I went to Kingston Blount Point to Point course for The Berks and Bucks Draghounds race meeting in what were, quite simply, dreadful conditions. The rain was the sort that was going to find a leak in all singing all dancing Goretex outer wear if it existed and, if not, would creep in through the collar and soak the mid layers via that route. I could tell when I was soaked through when my boots started to fill up, which was long after my wallet became soggy. At the time of writing (Tuesday morning) I am still trying to dry out my mobile phone.

By the time the Open Maiden Race started at 5.45 pm, the light was failing, the equipment was becoming steamed up and the photographer had lost the will to live. Under those conditions I am surprised and grateful that I came away with any useable photographs of that last race at all.
